Managing Director, Special Situations

Mr. Anderson joined American Capital in January 2007 as a Managing Director of the Special Situations Group in the Chicago office. Prior to joining American Capital, Mr. Anderson was a Managing Director of Questor Management Company, a $1.1 billion private equity firm focused on turnarounds and distressed investments. During Mr. Anderson’s ten years with Questor in New York and Chicago, he was directly involved with over $1.1 billion of acquisitions and investments and served on numerous Boards of Directors.


Prior to joining Questor at its initial formation, Mr. Anderson began his career in the bankruptcy and restructuring group of Coopers & Lybrand followed by the turnaround consulting firm AlixPartners.


Mr. Anderson holds a B.S. degree in Mathematics from Vanderbilt University and an MBA with High Distinction from the Ross Business School at the University of Michigan.

Michael Jordan
   
Vice President, Sponsor Finance

Michael Jordan joined American Capital in July 2005 as an Associate in the Chicago office. Prior to joining American Capital, he was a Senior Associate in the Investment Banking division of Prudential Securities for four years, where he focused on capital raising for Telecom, Media and Entertainment companies. Prior to Prudential, Michael worked at Ernst & Young Kenneth Leventhal, as a real estate Consultant.


Mr. Jordan received his MBA from The University of Chicago, Graduate School of Business. He received his Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance from James Madison University.

Dennis Kirby

Vice President, Special Situations

Mr. Kirby joined American Capital in January 2007 as a Vice President of the Special Situations Group in the Chicago office.  Prior to joining American Capital, Mr. Kirby was a Director of Questor Management Company, a $1.1 billion private equity firm focused on turnarounds and distressed investments.  During Mr. Kirby’s seven years with Questor, he was directly involved with over $800 million in acquisitions and served as a portfolio company board member.


Prior to joining Questor, Mr. Kirby was an associate with Bowles, Hollowell & Conner and a project manager for Deere & Co.  Mr. Kirby began his career as an officer in the U.S. Army, where he served for six years.


Mr. Kirby holds a B.S. degree in Aerospace Engineering from the United States Military Academy at West Point, NY and an MBA from the Harvard Graduate School of Business Administration.

Jonathan Leiman
   
Principal

Mr. Leiman joined American Capital in March 2002 and is a Principal in the Chicago office. Prior to joining American Capital, Mr. Leiman worked in the mergers and acquisitions group at Piper Jaffray. While at Piper, he advised middle market companies in M&A, leveraged buyouts, private placements, and public equity offerings. Mr. Leiman also worked in the corporate finance group at PricewaterhouseCoopers Securities.

Mr. Leiman received his MBA from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University and his BBA from the University of Michigan.

Kevin McAllister

Vice President, Buyouts

Kevin McAllister joined American Capital in 2004 as an Associate in the Chicago office. He is responsible for evaluating and executing buyout investments and monitoring certain portfolio companies. Prior to American Capital, Mr. McAllister worked as a consultant in the Strategy Group of Accenture. Before joining Accenture, Mr. McAllister was a Manager of Business Development for an acquisitive NYSE listed holding company. Mr. McAllister began his career at A.T. Kearney in its Strategy group. Between his first and second year of business school Mr. McAllister was a summer Associate in the Mergers and Acquisitions Group of JP Morgan in New York.


Mr. McAllister received an M.B.A. from the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business and a B.A. in Economics from Dickinson College in Carlisle Pennsylvania. Currently he serves on the board of Milton's Fine Foods in addition to being the Co-chairman of the Chicago Association of Private Equity Executives ("CAPEX").

John Neis
   
Principal, Buyouts

John Neis joined American Capital in January 2006 as a Vice President in the Chicago office and was promoted to Principal in 2007. He is responsible for evaluating and executing mezzanine investments and buyouts and monitoring certain portfolio companies.


Prior to American Capital, Mr. Neis was a Principal with Baird Capital Partners where he executed middle market buyout transactions. Before joining BCP, he was an Associate within the investment banking group of Robert W. Baird & Co., Inc. where he participated in numerous equity financing and merger and acquisition transactions. Mr. Neis began his career at Arthur Andersen LLP.


Mr. Neis received an M.B.A. from the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business and a B.S.B.A. from Miami University.

Gregg Newmark

Managing Director, Buyouts

Gregg Newmark joined American Capital in November 2006 as a Managing Director in the Chicago office. Mr. Newmark brings 21 years experience in the private equity business, investing in the consumer, retail, business and information services sectors. Mr. Newmark has served on over 25 boards including Golf Galaxy, Bright Horizons, Ultra Diamonds, Dots, OneSource Information Services and Roadshow International. Prior to joining American Capital, Mr. Newmark was a managing director of William Blair Capital Partners. In his 21 year career with WBCP, Mr. Newmark was active in all aspects of the development of a series of funds that collectively managed over $1 billion of investor capital. These funds invested in companies across stages of development in business and financial services, consumer, healthcare and technology. Before joining WBCP, Mr. Newmark started his career with Bain & Company.


Mr. Newmark received a B.S.E., summa cum laude, from Princeton University and a J.D./M.B.A. from Harvard Law School and Harvard Business School.
